Basement concrete

Basement work is mostly an access problem. The pour itself is straightforward — vapor barrier, compacted base, reinforced slab, trowel finish — but getting concrete down there when a truck cannot back to the opening is what separates a clean job from a long day. We plan placement before the order goes in: pump, conveyor or barrow, and how many people it takes to keep the pour moving so there is no cold joint across the middle of a finished floor.

Basement stair wells and window wells are poured with drainage designed in. In this valley a window well without a working drain becomes a bathtub against the foundation the first time a spring storm drops an inch of rain on frozen ground.
